One year!!
So we made it a year!! ha ha It has gone by so fast but it has been a good year. Though its hard to think we were in Jamaica this time last year, oh how we wish we were there now. Since I was out of town this last weekend for a tournament we are going to go down to San Antonio for a quick get a way to celebrate. Its not Jamaica but its better than nothing!
Been a long time...
Ok, I know I haven't written in forever. I keep trying to wait til I get some pics to put up. Which how do you put pictures up? ha. So We are moved into our house. There is still plenty to do but it has come a long way. We have finally got most of the rooms somewhat put together. We are having some difficulty with the arrangement of things with our furniture. Our furniture is not ideal for the space we have. There are a lot of walls in the house and all the rooms are separated so it makes everything so small. We are thinking of knocking out the wall between the dining room and living room, hoping that it would open things up quite a bit. So there aren't any major projects that need to be done. Oh, well actually we did learn that the owner did not have the heater inspected and turns out that it doesn't work. So we had someone come out and fix it but they said that it was pretty old and should really be replaced. So we are kind of going back and forth with the realtors and trying to figure out if they will pay for that. uh! such a pain. The joys of home owning. Other than that things just still need to be organized, put decorations up, save money to get decorations, lol, and i would like to paint some walls.
My parents came down over Easter weekend, which was really great to see them. They took us shopping which was really nice! So we got some things for the house. I actually have stuff hung on the walls! Its amazing. We also decided we were going to paint the guest bathroom. Well i decided to do it blue cause that is one of our colors. Lets just say I guess I was feeling festive because of Easter because the bathroom turned out to look like an Easter egg. lol. It was way too bright! So I am going to have to go get another shade.
So our doggies are doing well. Bree is getting so big! I can't believe how fast she is growing. She is going to be big! She is a really good (already potty trained) and sweet puppy (though she is in the biting/ chewing everything stage). But we just enjoy them so much. Mya has decided to be bad though. We have come home the last couple days to her in the front yard. She has decided to start digging. She has dug several holes under the fence. So we are trying to come up with a permanent solution here.
So... I have been working at the gym still (about to give up on these 530am shifts!). I had an interview for another gym also so hopefully I can start working there soon. We only have 2 more practices and 1 more tournament for volleyball this season!woo hoo! I have enjoyed it but I am ready to be done! I have also starting doing my education classes. I forgot how much I hate doing hw. Especially since the classes are online it has been challenging. Its been hard to make time to actually sit down and do my work. I just keep thinking of being able to get a job and so I am trying to finish as soon as I can. Brent is still working at the church. He is going to be busy with the teens soon. He is going to be doing extravaganza, a mission trip to chicago and summer camp. So we are both keeping very busy!

It's a Girl!
Ok.. So I know anyone who read the title of this is freaking out and thinking "are they having a baby?!" umm. NO. But we do have a new addition to our family. So.. the other day we were driving by the animal shelter and couldn't help but go in and look. Which I'm not sure the point of going to a shelter and looking at all those sad little faces and then all you want is to take them all home with you. Also, the fact that we said we would wait atleast a month after we were in our new house to look for a dog. So not sure what we were thinking! So we walk in and see these two adorable little German shepherd puppies. They were the first dogs we saw and we immediately turned to each other and said, " well you wanna get one." We were both thinking the same thing and were just so excited to see them. We were hooked. So it turns out they couldn't be adopted until 3pm that day. So we finished looking at all the other dogs there (non compared to these dogs we had already found) and decided we would come back later to look at them again and make our decision. So we came back later and we immediately asked about the dogs and a lady said, " I think they are being adopted right now." We were pissed! ha So we went into the office and to our relief found out that only one of the dogs was being adopted. So we went back and looked at the one still available and even brought Mya (our first child) to see how they would do together. Well they didn't hit it off very well but that still didnt discourage and decided to go ahead with it. The thing is.. It is very rare when you find a puppy at the animal shelter, especially a german shepherd(which we think she is a pure bred even). We also know that when a puppy comes in and is ready for adoption, the puppy is usually adopted by the next day. We knew we either had to decide that day or who knows the next time we would have had an opportunity like that! So this was our thinking and we just went for it! I know many people think we are crazy but if you know us we are both crazy about dogs and love our little puppy so much! So now we have a cute little girl at our house! We love her but yes I forgot what a chore it is to take care of a puppy. Potty training.. sucks! Also, Brent is out of town this weekend and so I am left taking care of the little dogs myself!
On another note... We signed the final papers for the house yesterday and have the keys! Its officiallly ours! yay! We went by the house and they put up a new wood fence, which is awesome and they had it cleaned. So starting tomorrow I'll start taking things over to the house! Its exciting!
WEll I will get some pics of the dog and the house up soon!!

March madness...
Ok, So after debating and going back and forth between three different houses we finally made our decision. The house has 3 bedrooms, 2 bath (of which the master bath is WAY too small but that was something I had to compromise on :( ), 2 car garage, a fireplace (we were excited about that), they had put in new carpet and painted already. It has a great big back yard for our big dog that we will be getting some time after we move in! After signing many papers and going back and forth and waiting we got the final approval for the house. We are now on Schedule to move in to the house on March 12th! I have started packing random things in boxes but for the most part we are just gonna throw stuff in our cars and make several trips. We don't have to be out of our house now til March 31st and so we will just progressively move stuff out for those 2 weeks that we have. It is a very good thing we have those weeks to do it because March is a busy month for us!
Along with celebrating both of our birthdays this week, Brent and I have the fun of going up to Oklahoma City for my friends Heather's wedding! I can't wait and am super excited to see some of my friends!! Then on Sunday (which is quite a busy day for us anyways) I have to be back for my 13's volleyball tournament. So along with our daily work and routine we have several others things going on. Like I said, next Thursday we are then able to move in to the house but that may not happen quite yet. We then have our youth group spring retreat that weekend. We will be going up to Bear Creek Camp which is a few hours away. We will be having services and also doing high ropes courses and all kinds of fun stuff! So although this should be a great time for the kids it is also bad timing with the house. Then the following weekend Brent is going on a snowboarding trip with some of his guy friends in Colorado! Although this will be a great trip for Brent, again bad timing. That leaves me with getting to move some things that weekend.
So along with our busy weekends we have our usual routines going on. I am still working some hours at the gym and also coaching. We have practice twice a week and tournaments about every other weekend. I have also been volunteering in a 1st grade class about twice a week. I have really enjoyed doing this. It is getting me some classroom experience and a chance to work with kids. I actually got to teach the class while the teacher did some planning. So for about 2 hours it was chaos. Lol, no it wasn't that bad but it was challenging. I know as a student when your teacher isn't there, you are less prone to listening! It was definitely an experience. I am thinking that 1st grade is a little too young for me! I have been accepted into my teaching program and am going to start taking my courses hopefully next week. Brent has been working hard doing wed. and Sunday nights with the teens. Along with doing fundraisers and getting ready for up coming events. He has also been interviewing to get his district pastors license (which he is not too thrilled about). He has also started playing in their softball league again. Well I think that sums up our lives for this month!!

So many things.. so little time...
Although we are living in a wonderful house that is only about a mile from the church it is time to move on. We are just renting the house and realizing that the house is too big for the two of us and we could use to spend less each month. So we had a discussion and decided it would be best to move on and possibly even try and buy a house. Well we had started looking online and that is about it. I have to point out that I was the one who thought we needed to be out the house by the end of March but Brent informs that he is pretty sure it not til the end of April. So we were taking our time and trying to figure out what we even wanted to look at. Well a week ago Brent informs me that I was right (I was glad to hear those words, lol) and we need to be out of our house by March 31st. Well that gives us two months to find a house and move in!! With the help of a mortgage broker (i think that is what he is called) from our church we were able to get approved for a loan. So the hunt begins. We also have a realtor in our church and she is going to take us around to look at houses next week. Hopefully we can find a house that we just love very quickly!! So that is the status of our house hunting. I'll keep you posted!!

Big plans...
Well... I have been doing a lot of thinking about what I want to do with my life! As most of you know I love working out and being involved in anything fitness related. I love personal training and love the opportunity to get people involved in working out. I have discovered that personal training is so much more than just working people out. I have found that I have to be more of a sales person than anything! and I am NOT a sales person. Things have been really slow at the gym and I have been really frustrating just having to normally work at the front desk (and doing the morning shift at 5:30 AM is not my thing! As most of you know I'm not a morning person!! lol). So in my frustrations I began thinking and searching for possibly other things I could get into. In the back of my mind I have always thought about teaching. I think with my mom being a teacher and several people telling me that I should be a teacher, I had to rebel and pursue something else. Now I am realizing what a great career teaching is. I thought about it a lot and think I would enjoy it. In the next month I am going to enroll in an alternative teaching program. It is online courses so I will continue to work at the gym and then I can apply and possibly get a job by this coming August! I would like to continue to train a few people and will continue to coach volleyball. Please pray that this is the right decision for me!!

A whole new world...
So... 2008.. Very eventful year for the Huffs. That was the year we actually became the Huff family. Married April 19th... Moved to Georgetown, Texas one week later. Brent had gotten connected with the pastor here in Georgetown and was offered a job as the youth pastor last January. So that is how we ended up in Texas (a state we did NOT think we would end up in). lol God definitely has a sense of humor. So Brent quickly got settled into his job with teens. He has made great friendships and connections with the teens. He has been busy planning and doing many events with them. Overall he has enjoyed the job. I would have to say I was definitely out of my element. Thrown in a place where I had no friends, no family (almost), and no job! So I starting searching for a job. I started a job at Georgetown Fitness with the intentions of personal training. I have been able to do that but with tough times and slow memberships there were not too many people to train. I am still working at the gym doing some training and working the front desk. I also work up at the church on wednesdays. With my love for volleyball I just knew that I had to get involved. So, I am also assisting a 13s team at Austin Juniors volleyball club. This has been a great opportunity for me to be around the game I love, learning to be a better coach, and making a friend. The head coach's name is Laura. She has been coaching there for several years and she has been a great help to me. We had previously met at Georgetown Fitness, where I found out she was a coach for Austin Juniors. We then were put on the same team. I found out her husband is also a youth pastor and are a great christian couple. God has truly blessed us with the connection to a great christian couple. I not only wanted to coach volleyball but wanted to keep playing also. I was able to get connected with some people and play on a league once a week. Also, I joined a USA volleyball team and play some tournaments on the weekend. It has been so great to play again!!
Though I'm not gonna lie we have both had a really hard time moving away from friends and family and we miss them tremendously every day! I do believe God has a purpose for us being here and he really has blessed us since we have been here. We were able to find a great home to rent, that is only about 1 mile from the church. We are actually looking to move and possibly buy a house this coming april (pray for us!!). We have a great church family that we have made some good friends. ( I should tell you we have made a lot of older friends, more like our parents, we have yet to find some people our age, lol). So that is the story of how we got here and what we are doing here!!
